How do your classes work?
All classes listed on the fitness schedule are on going and you can participate in them as you choose. You can book every week or choose different classes as you like. Pre booking is recommended as spaces are limited. You can purchase packages of fitness classes as singles, in 5, 10 or 20 or memberships. You can prebook as many classes as you have purchased. All fitness classes that are prebooked are subject to our 24 hour cancellation policy.
The only program that is considered registration is our Pole Dance sessions. They are leveled and you must commit to the full 4 weeks of whichever session you have chosen. You start in a Level 1 class and move up as your instructor deems it appropriate.
I’m a beginner. What class(es) should I take?
If you are interested in Pole Dance, you will begin in a Level 1 class. Dont be fooled, this session is jammed with spins, transitions and combos and is essential to the proper development in skill and strength for the upcoming levels.
If you are interested in Fitness Classes, feel free to attend any of them. For Pole Fit, it is recommended to do the beginner pole fit at least once before attending the regular pole fit classes. All classes are designed to encourage everyone to work as hard as they can. You will find all fitness levels in each class, but will also find that you can pace your self to your level and still feel challenged.
What if I want to spend more time just practicing my moves on the pole?
You can take advantage of our Practice times listed on the class schedule. You must be registered in a pole dance program currently in order to participate in the Practice Session . No new material is taught and class routines will not be reviewed.
Practice times are 1-hour freestyle studio sessions open to all students of all levels currently registered in Pole Dance Studio’s 4-week programs.
Practice time is $10 for the hour or FREE for those with memberships. Practice the moves and choreography from the previous lesson or experiment with the moves and variations to create your own routines or come in a do your own workout on the pole. Inversions are not allowed if you have not been taught them in your session-ed classes. If students are found to be attempting tricks or moves beyond their level in classes, they will not be allowed to attend practice sessions. This is for everyones safety.
Only work that you have been instructed properly on is allowed during practice times. This rule is strictly enforced to ensure safety for all of our students.
Can I do a drop-in?
It is highly recommended to book your classes online ahead of time. Spaces fill quickly, so to ensure you will have a space when you arrive, it is best to prebook. Please note that all prebooked classes are subject to our 24 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel your class later than 24 hours or do not show, you will lose that class.. For members, you will be charged a $10 no show/late cancel fee.
Please see the class schedule for dates and times.
How fit do I have to be to join the classes or workshops?
We are open to all fitness levels and to all shapes and sizes! Our instructors do a certain amount of customization to accommodate individual fitness levels. Most students have never even touched a pole before coming to our class! Our classes are known for the quality of instruction, quality of content and the challenging physical workouts. By the end of your 4 week Pole Dance class you will have learned new spins, floor work and a routine.
Are there men in the classes?
Currently, Live Once only has women attending classes. If you are a man and wish to do private lessons in pole or want personal training, please contact us for bookings.
What is the background of the majority of students?
Most are beginners. Many are repeat students. Some have dance experience and some do not. Age varies between 18 - 65 years, however, the average age is 34.
What if I only want to learn specific pole tricks?
If you have specific skills you would like to learn, private lessons are the best option for you. Contact the studio for availability and bookings.
What are the class sizes?
For classes, we maintain smaller class sizes to provide individual attention and quality to our clients. For the registered Pole Dance and Pole Fit classes, each student has their own pole.
For stagettes and private group parties, there is a limit depending on the type of party you would like and the studio you are booking at.
Are the moves in the workshops and Pole Dance classes hard to learn?
Everyone has different learning curves for various sections of the class. The classes are meant to be challenging, but fun. Please do not compare your skills to others in the class as we all move differently , learn at various rates and will all find different things challenging.
There is no pressure to move to each new level successively. Some women feel comfortable to move on while others choose to repeat sessions as they want to become very comfortable with the moves learned in their current sessions. Our instructors are skilled at offering different options to the everyone in class so students can work at the level they feel comfortable at.
I have heard the Pole Fit classes are quite challenging? I am not in very good shape, should I try this class?
Of course! This class is very challenging, however, different options are given for each move and fitness level. So whether you are a beginner or an experienced “Pole Fitter”, you will get a great workout and be able to participate at your own pace. You can always start with the Beginner class held Sunday’s at 10 am to get a good intro to the format and unique exercises in this class.
The design of this class follows a circuit training format along with Body-weight (calisthenic) training, plyometrics and pole exercises. Along with the pole, we use weighted yoga balls, bands, ankle weights ,BOSU balls and stability balls. The intervals are timed so each participant works at their own level of fitness within the allotted time frame for each exercise. We incorporate cardio segments into each interval using plyometrics, skipping and other aerobic elements. These segments can also be modified to accommodate each individuals needs and ability.
The idea is to come, be challenged and push yourself to YOUR highest ability. The moves in this class take a few times to get used to as they are very unique.
The results if you stick with it? An amazingly fit, toned and strong body like never before!
What will I learn in Pole Dance Session Classes?
We begin the class with a warm up, review moves/spins from the previous week, learn new moves and work on our routine. By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have learned a minimum of 7 spins along with many transitions and floor work all put together in a full sexy routine.
The Pole Dance classes are designed to be progressive. Each succeeding class builds on the foundation laid out on the 1st class. We accommodate different fitness levels and customize certain moves according to your fitness level. We teach you different elements, break them down, and combine them.
All of the students in Level 1 have never done pole dance before. If you are interested in joining a class and have done pole dance before, contact the studio to set up an appointment so we can ensure that you enroll in the class that suits your ability.
Is there nudity involved?
There is NO nudity involved in any of our classes or workshops.
What should I wear?
Barefoot, or foot undeez in Level 1 ; after that, you may wear heels (contact studio for recommended sources). In Pole Fit, we do the class barefoot unless you have ankle or foot problems and then you may wear INDOOR trainers. NO outdoor shoes in the studio please for hygiene purposes. Knee pads are MANDATORY as many of the moves in routines and landings for some spins can be rough on your knees. Volley ball knee pads are recommended and can be purchased at any sports store. For the pole fit classes, shorts or capris that you can roll up to at least half way up your thighs are highly recommended.
For Pole Dance, yoga style workout wear is great. Jeans are not recommended. Wear clothing you feel sexy and comfortable moving in. If you are interested in learning in heels, you may begin once you enter level 2. Once you begin level 3 and on, short shorts or bikini style bottoms are required for the pole work learned in this session and in subsequent higher levels. Please ensure that your hands are FREE from oil or lotion. Avoid wearing lotion on your legs if you’re wearing shorts. Please DO NOT wear rings, bracelets or watches. They can injure you and damage the poles.
What should I NOT wear?
Do not wear any rings, bracelets or watches please.
